Your next opportunity

We are looking for an experienced, ambulatory Farm Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join MBM Veterinary Group on a 12-month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave. Based at our purpose-built Large Animal Clinic in Symington, this is an exciting opportunity to become part of a progressive and well-established farm team delivering high-quality clinical care across Ayrshire.

The role involves a varied mix of routine and emergency farm work, alongside participation in four yearly TB testing. You will work closely with a loyal client base of predominantly family-run dairy and beef farms, as well as a number of commercial and pedigree sheep flocks. We are seeking a motivated clinician who is passionate about providing excellent veterinary care and building strong client relationships, while thriving as part of a collaborative team.

Flexible hours to suit your needs

Our people are at the heart of everything that we do, that's why we know that work-life balance is vital in supporting our people to be their best selves. Our flexible approach to rota patterns and working hours offers a balance that truly flexes with you and your lifestyle no matter what stage you are in your career.

The full time position includes working 40 hours over 5 days with participation in a 2 in 8 out-of-hours rota, with time off in lieu provided for on-call weekends. We recognise the importance of balance and sustainability in farm practice, and flexible working patterns may be available for the right candidate.

Be part of something exceptional

MBM Veterinary Group is a long-established, RCVS Accredited, multi-centred practice with dedicated small and farm animal teams. Our farm team is made up of eight dedicated farm vets, including four Advanced Practitioners and one RCVS Recognised Specialist, bringing together over 90 years of combined experience. Clinical collaboration is central to our culture, with quarterly clinical club meetings and regular case discussions encouraged in a supportive, informal environment.

In February 2024, we moved into our purpose-built farm and equine facility near Symington, equipped with modern technology to support progressive farm practice. Facilities include Easi-scans, Dairymate and TotalVet dairy software, bovine laparoscopes, bull and tup breeding soundness equipment, a WOPA mobile hydraulic foot crush, and an in-house laboratory including Ova-cyte. The team is further supported by three veterinary technicians and a dedicated farm receptionist, ensuring efficient and well-structured service delivery.

Come join us

Located on Scotland's beautiful west coast, Ayrshire offers an exceptional quality of life. The area is known for its stunning beaches, renowned golf courses and rich heritage as the home of Rabbie Burns. With excellent road and rail links, Glasgow is just a 30-minute drive away, providing easy access to central Scotland while enjoying the benefits of coastal and rural living.

At MBM Veterinary Group, we pride ourselves on being a friendly, close-knit and forward-thinking team. We encourage clinical interests and provide generous CPD funding alongside professional memberships and a comprehensive benefits package. If you are an enthusiastic and proactive farm vet looking to join a collaborative practice where high standards of care and teamwork are valued, we would love to hear from you.
