Main Responsibilities
* Provide medication administration and pharmacy services to patients within the prison.
* Assist in delivering a high‑quality pharmacy service, supporting medicines management and addressing inequalities.
* Provide pharmacy‑related information to patients, prison officers and healthcare staff, ensuring advice is appropriate.
* Function autonomously and support less experienced staff while staying within competency scope.
* Implement and develop pharmacy support across all residential wings, advising on correct medication use.
* Maintain clear, signed, contemporaneous written and electronic records.
* Recognise signs/symptoms of drug and alcohol withdrawal; support patients with substance misuse and those at risk of self‑harm or suicide.
* Communicate effectively with team members, prison staff and external agencies.
* Undertake mandatory and additional training as identified.
* Familiarise with and encourage use of prison security systems.
* Carry out all duties required of a Pharmaceutical Professional in HMP Chelmsford and comply with the Department of Health competencies, knowledge and skills framework.
Ideal Candidate
* NVQ Level 3, BTEC or equivalent qualification.
* Registered Pharmacy Technician with current General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) membership.
* All candidates subject to prison vetting checks.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a multi‑professional team in a fast‑paced environment.
