Merseyside Youth Association offers young people in Liverpool a dual strand model of delivery that uses Outdoor Education and Music as engagement tools. Each of these engagement strands has a strong track record of engaging hard to reach young people. The programme has been specifically designed for young people who are: 17-18 year olds at risk of long-term NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) 18-21 year olds with care experience, SEND needs or involvement in the justice system Young people disengaged for extended periods or at transition points A trusted adult relationship is the ‘golden thread’ throughout each participant’s journey. Every young person is matched with a consistent key worker who offers continuity, personalised guidance, and encouragement from entry to exit. Through this foundation, young people begin to overcome barriers and develop the skills necessary for progression. Core delivery across both Outdoor Education and Music consists of: Initial assessment to identify assets, barriers and aspirations Development of personalised action plans One to one support with their dedicated key worker Group sessions to build peer connection and belonging Access to accredited industry led vocational qualifications Emergency First Aid Employability Coaching, job search support and progression matching.
