Dovecote is an independent specialist school for neurodivergent children and young people with complex needs, including autism, PDA, and trauma. We offer a calm, structured, and highly relational environment where every detail is intentionally designed to help students feel safe, seen, and supported.
Behind the scenes, our finance and admin team plays a vital role in holding things steady — so that care, connection, and creativity can happen with clarity and purpose.
About the Role
We’re looking for a highly organised, detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our operations team. This varied, hands-on role is at the heart of the school, supporting everything from payment processing and payroll to supplier liaison, trip planning, and front-desk support.
You’ll be part of a small, friendly, and professional team that genuinely cares about making things work well — not just for compliance, but for people.
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who enjoys systems, problem-solving, and structure, and who wants to contribute to a meaningful and values-driven environment.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:
* Processing payments, invoices, and school orders
* Supporting payroll and pension reporting
* Helping to monitor income and expenditure across departments
* Maintaining accurate records for audit and reporting
* Reconciling petty cash, school trip payments, and other income
* Managing stock orders and liaising with suppliers
* Supporting general admin tasks and the front desk when needed
* Helping organise trips, transport, and bookings
* Contributing to a calm, responsive, and well-run office environment
We’d Love to Hear From You If You Are:
* Experienced in finance or admin roles
* Skilled in Excel, Word, and Outlook
* Confident working with QuickBooks and/or Xero
* Reliable, proactive and detail-focused
* A calm communicator – written and verbal
* Able to prioritise and meet deadlines
* Respectful of confidentiality and GDPR standards
* A team player with a flexible, can-do approach
Bonus Points For:
* Experience in a school or SEND setting
* Knowledge of finance regulations or audit prep
* Training in safeguarding, GDPR, or H&S
Why Work With Us?
At Dovecote, you’ll join a team that leads with empathy, clarity, and curiosity. We believe in designing systems that are clear, supportive, and sustainable — for students, families, and staff alike. You’ll be valued not just for your technical skills, but for your thoughtful approach and contribution to a collaborative culture.
