Unqualified Teacher
Prospero Teaching is seeking confident and proactive Unqualified Teachers to work across a range of primary and secondary schools in Winchester. This role suits individuals who enjoy leading groups, feel comfortable taking charge of a classroom, and want paid, practical experience in education without requiring QTS.
In this position, you will act as the responsible adult in the classroom when the teacher is absent. You’ll deliver pre-planned lesson materials, guide students through their work, and maintain a positive, focused learning atmosphere. This is an ideal route for aspiring teachers, recent graduates exploring education, or anyone experienced in working with young people through coaching, mentoring, or youth support.
Whether you prefer consistent full-time work or flexible day‑to‑day cover, this role offers valuable classroom exposure and the opportunity to develop strong behaviour‑management and leadership skills.
The Role:
1. Deliver and supervise pre-prepared lessons across various subjects
2. Lead classes independently and keep students engaged
3. Follow and support school behaviour policies
4. Assist pupils with questions and general classroom needs
5. Work across different year groups from KS3 to KS4
6. Provide both short-notice and pre-arranged cover
7. Maintain a structured, calm, and encouraging learning environment
Ideal Candidate:
8. Experience working with children or young people (youth work, tutoring, mentoring, coaching, etc.)
9. Confident managing groups and behaviour
10. Flexible and comfortable covering a range of subjects
11. Proactive, reliable, and enthusiastic
12. Strong communication and organisation skills
13. Open to graduates and aspiring teachers
Contract Details:
14. Position: Unqualified Teacher
15. Location: Winchester
16. Start: ASAP
17. Working Pattern: Full-time, part-time, or day-to-day
18. Pay: Up to £130 per day
19. Key Stages: KS1-KS4
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
20. Experience with children or young people required
21. Classroom or youth-based experience preferred
22. Safeguarding training available if needed
Eligibility:
23. Right to work in the UK
24. Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
25. Two references covering work with young people
