We require an experienced lawyer in local government commercial and procurement law to join our Commercial and Information Governance Team which provides advice to the County Council, Districts Councils and to other external public bodies who engage our services. We have embraced new ways of working and hybrid working will be a feature of this role. You will be given a nominated contractual work base and you will be required to commute to this work base when necessary. Working arrangements regarding hybrid working will be discussed as part of the appointment process. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated commercial lawyer to join our legal team. The candidate will be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with at least 3 years post qualification experience and have experience of working within an in‑house local government legal Service or other equivalent, relevant experience. The candidate will also need to demonstrate good literacy and IT skills, the ability to communicate effectively and be skilled in drafting complex legal advice, letters and reports clearly and in plain English. A strong team player is required who will be able to apply their knowledge innovatively and proactively.

Working alongside the Council's Corporate Commercial Team, you will help to procure contracts for goods, services and works in relation to significant projects. Your advice and assistance will be instrumental to the Council in obtaining value for money for the residents of Lincolnshire. Contracts spanning public health, adults support, waste disposal, ICT, children's commissioning and transport are all in scope. You will also be involved in an array of other commercial matters for the County Council, District Council and the Combined Authority including grant funding and subsidies, corporate advice in respect of Council owned companies, legal support on Council governance issues, training more junior colleagues in the team and much more.
