Job overview
Lower Limb Musculoskeletal Advanced Practice Physiotherapist (Clinical Specialist)
We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, dynamic, and suitably qualified physiotherapist with a specialist interest in Lower limb Orthopaedics to join our Musculoskeletal (MSK) Outpatient Therapy team at University College Hospital (UCH).
Working alongside the wider surgical, medical, and nursing teams, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and providing services related to complex lower limb disorders within the Musculoskeletal outpatient physiotherapy service.
Our department in central London offers excellent development and educational opportunities, with strong links to medical and surgical colleagues, community facilities, and a variety of well-established group-based rehabilitation classes.
The post involves managing a clinical caseload of predominantly orthopedic outpatients with complex lower limb conditions, including surgical and non-surgical cases requiring pre-habilitation and rehabilitation.
You will work with senior clinicians to deliver, coordinate, and evaluate the MSK Physiotherapy service, with opportunities to contribute to service development and research projects.
Main duties of the job
You will facilitate evidence-informed patient care, sharing knowledge to support and develop physiotherapy best practices aligned with local and national guidelines.
Significant previous MSK outpatient experience at Band 7 level, including management of orthopedic and rheumatology patients, is required. Excellent clinical, communication, reasoning, and rehabilitative skills are essential, along with the ability to provide an accountable, autonomous, and high-quality physiotherapy service.
Ongoing professional development at the Masters level or equivalent is expected. You should demonstrate leadership ability in educating, appraising, training, and supervising less experienced staff and colleagues. Support for personal development, clinical excellence, and leadership training is provided.
Your clinical role will include managerial and administrative duties, such as operational management of the lower limb rehabilitation classes at UCH.
You will be supported by the MSK team, including Advanced Practice Physiotherapists, Consultant Physiotherapists, senior staff, and Heads of Service.
