About the role
* MUST have a FULL UK driving licence and own transport (for attending training locations and covering other shops in the network if required)
* Weekend working as the rota is Saturday - Wednesday
* Location is Witley in Godalming
* £12.31 per hour
What will I be doing?
As a shop operative, you will be in charge of the daily running of our re-use shop, based at Witley / Godalming HWRC, liaising with the re-use manager to ensure the shop is fully stocked and everything is properly stored or made ready for sale.
This will involve you:
* Merchandising stock, organising, preparing, pricing, and presenting donations for sale to increase sales and ensure customer satisfaction.
* Operating the cash register, counting/reconciling cash and credit card receipts, processing returns and refunds.
* Ensuring goods are sold at appropriate value and all rejected items are disposed of appropriately.
* Making certain that collections and deliveries are arranged in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
* Maintaining the security of the shop premises, stock, and cash.
* Promoting the values of the shop and the charitable nature of the re-use scheme.
* Providing excellent customer experience to encourage repeat custom and ensure the smooth and profitable running of the shop.
What are the requirements?
* You will be passionate about the environment and this re-use project, with prior retail experience and a real enthusiasm for providing excellent customer service.
* Knowledge of recycling and upcycling, or willingness to develop it quickly, along with understanding of stock maintenance, merchandising, and handling financial aspects of retail.
* A flexible attitude to work as shift work and weekend work will be required.
* The confidence to initially work alone in the re-use shop (until volunteers are recruited).
* Excellent teamwork skills to work closely with site staff on the HWRCs.
* While mainly a re-use shop role, when not required in the shop, you will be part of the site operative team at the HWRC.
