Head of Supply Chain
Location: South Wales
Salary: Up to £75k DOE
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
4 days per week in the office
We are looking for an experienced leader to take full charge of the supply chain for a global B2B manufacturer. You will oversee everything from planning and buying to shipping and customer service, making sure our client's systems are reliable and costs stay under control. As a key part of the leadership team, you will build a strong department, improve how they work, and make sure their operations can keep up with a fast-growing business.
The role:
Take full ownership of the supply chain department, leading the planning, buying, logistics, and customer service teams to meet long-term business goals.
Build a high-performing culture by setting clear targets, mentoring staff, and ensuring the department is structured to handle future growth.
Manage the end-to-end planning process, from forecasting and production to final delivery, ensuring systems are accurate and stock levels are optimised.
Improve cash flow by balancing high service levels with smart inventory control to reduce waste and eliminate obsolete stock.
Lead negotiations and global supplier relationships to get the best value, while finding backup sources to protect the business from supply risks.
Drive cost-saving initiatives across purchasing and freight without compromising on the quality or continuity of materials.
Oversee shipping and warehousing to ensure we deliver to customers on time and in full, while staying compliant with all import/export regulations.
Control the departmental budget and provide clear performance reports and analytics to the executive leadership team.
Modernise operations by automating manual processes and using "Lean" methods to cut out inefficiencies and improve workflow.
Work closely with Sales and Finance to make sure the supply capacity always matches market demand and commercial strategy.
About you:
Essential:
At least 10 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing supply chain.
A degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Engineering, or have equivalent senior leadership experience in a similar role.
A proven track record of leading teams across different functions like buying, planning, and logistics.
Experience fixing underperforming departments and delivering clear, measurable improvements.
Expertise in using ERP/MRP systems to manage stock and production.
A data-driven approach to making decisions and managing supply chain risks.
Knowledge of SAP or qualifications in Lean / Six Sigma.
Desirable:
Professional qualifications such as CIPS, an MBA, or a relevant postgraduate degree.
A background in scaling supply chains during periods of rapid business growth.
To reach the top of the salary range, you will be a proven supply chain leader with at least 10 years of experience in manufacturing. You should have a track record of managing end-to-end operations and the drive to take full ownership of everything from long-term strategy to daily cost improvements.
