Fallen & Felled is a specialist timber company with a difference. We recover trees felled in and around London and turn them into beautiful hardwood boards and bespoke furniture, supplying leading furniture makers, designers and architects across the UK.
The Role
This is a hands-on, practical role in a working timber yard and warehouse. You'll combine physical timber handling with stock organisation and basic systems management, and work with senior management to gain a real insight into how a specialist timber business operates.
Skills & Experience
You will:
* Move, stack and prepare hardwood boards
* Assist with milling, machining and timber preparation
* Maintain accurate board labelling and stock records
* Update our database and management systems
* Communicate clearly with the wider team
* Help maintain a safe, organised and efficient site
* Train to operate forklifts and machinery
* Deal with customer visits and customer enquiries online
This role is offered on an initial six-month contract to support current production needs. For the right person, there may be scope for the role to continue, subject to performance and business requirements.
Hours can be agreed between 32 and 40 per week at the start of the contract.
About you
We're looking for someone who:
* Is physically fit and comfortable working indoors and outdoors year-round
* Can communicate clearly and confidently in English, both verbally and in writing
* Is confident using computers for stock systems and communication
* Is reliable, organised and willing to learn
* Enjoys working in a small team
* Ideally has forklift experience (or is willing to train)
* Has their own transport and lives within reasonable travelling distance
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months
Pay: £12.50-£13.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
