Job Title: Estimator - Fit Out Specialist

Company Overview
Our client is a well-established main contractor specialising in fit out and refurbishment projects across multiple sectors, including commercial office, industrial, and heritage. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects and maintaining excellent client relationships, they are looking to strengthen their pre-construction team with the appointment of an experienced Estimator for their West Midlands office.
Role Overview
The Estimator will report directly to the Head of Estimating and work alongside another Estimator, supporting the delivery of a high volume of tenders across a diverse project portfolio.
Project values typically range from £20k to £3-4 million, with an average workload of 10-20 tenders per month. This role is suited to a commercially astute, technically capable, and highly organised individual who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage and support the full tender process from initial enquiry through to final submission
2. Price tenders from a management contractor's perspective, using sub-contractor supply and fit packages
3. Obtain and analyse a minimum of three sub-contractor quotations per trade
4. Carry out detailed tender analysis and ensure scope alignment and clarification
5. Input accurate costings into client-supplied documentation and scopes of work
6. Attend and conduct tender site visits with clients and contract managers as required
7. Develop and maintain strong relationships with reliable and specialist sub-contractors
8. Apply experience and commercial judgement to assist with cost build-ups where required
9. Ensure fully priced tenders are submitted accurately and within agreed 2-4 week timeframes
Requirements
10. Proven experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator within the fit out and refurbishment sector
11. Strong understanding of management contracting (no direct labour pricing)
12. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small estimating team
13. Experience managing multiple tenders within tight deadlines
14. Excellent knowledge of sub-contractor markets and pricing processes
15. Strong tender analysis and commercial document preparation skills
16. Excellent communication and negotiation skills
17. High attention to detail with a proactive and organised approach
