Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and professional Bereavement Care Assistant to join our dedicated team. This role is integral to providing a high-quality, responsive bereavement service that meets the needs of the bereaved while adhering to the Charter for the Bereaved. You will play a key role in ensuring the dignified and efficient transfer and cremation of human remains, as well as supporting ceremony services and memorial activities.
This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, totaling 37 hours per week, with a competitive hourly rate of £13.69 per hour.
Responsibilities
As a Bereavement Care Assistant, your key responsibilities will include:
1. Safely transferring coffins between bereavement sites using the in-house conveyancing vehicle.
2. Maintaining the conveyancing vehicle, ensuring it is clean, refueled, and in safe working condition.
3. Assisting with ceremony services, including preparing ceremony spaces, operating digital tribute systems, and guiding attendees.
4. Conducting communal and witness scatters of cremated remains in designated memorial grounds.
5. Supporting the safe operation of the crematory, including the handling and processing of cremated remains.
6. Performing cleaning duties in ceremony spaces, public areas, and memorial grounds.
