About the Role
York St John University’s School of Law is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Lecturer in Law to join the team. The role involves designing and delivering high‑quality teaching and mentoring students in both academic and practical aspects of law, and supporting less‑experienced colleagues.
Responsibilities
* Design and deliver high-quality teaching across a range of settings (lectures, small groups, seminars).
* Develop assessment materials and support students through pastoral and academic tutoring.
* Supervise students in a university law clinic environment.
* Mentor less‑experienced colleagues.
* Participate in curriculum development and committee work as needed.
Qualifications
* Significant experience supervising students within a university law clinic.
* Expertise in two or more of the following areas of law: mental‑health law, conveyancing, medical law, property law, or asylum and immigration.
* Proven ability to deliver student‑focused teaching.
* Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (or equivalent) is required.
* Strong commitment to supporting student learning, employability, and professional development.
* Experience in curriculum development and mentoring colleagues is desirable.
* Solicitor or Barrister with practicing certificates, or a relevant PhD with substantial student supervision in a law clinic, is preferred.
