This is an exciting and rewarding full time role working 37.5hours a week in a fun and fast paced service.
The ideal candidate will have a full driving licence, and have a Level 3 in Social Care and strong experience in mental health, autism and sensory communication, and physical health. If you do not have a qualification, you will need to have experience in social care, and we will support you to gain your qualifications whilst working in service.
We will help you to develop your talents with a range of specialist training, including the opportunity to learn Positive Behaviour Support methods, Makaton and the Picture Exchange System.
During the recruitment process, you will meet the people we support in their home. This will allow you to see their wonderful personalities first-hand and fully understand the level of support that they require.
The people we support are unique, and have support needs ranging from learning disabilities, autism, epilepsy, mental health, and other complex needs. It's our mission to ensure the people we support can lead their best life possible!
There are 12 people that live at this service, their ages are between 21 and 72. They love to spend their time together doing lots of different activities, either at home or in the community. These range from spending time in the garden, their hot tub, playing table tennis, having BBQ's, or going out to the cinema, to the seaside or to a party! They love dancing and singing! They are loud and proud, and are not afraid to have fun!
You will know how to connect with people and be passionate about supporting people to live independently. You will also be a brilliant mentor and share your skills and experiences with your colleagues.
There is a large team of established and well trained support workers (around 50), who you will be working with and who you will also be supporting daily as well. They will look to you for leadership and advice in their daily duties.
