An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive, enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Temporary Staffing Team at UHSussex. The post holder will play a key role in supporting the delivery of a high quality, responsive and effective temporary staffing service across the Trust. This includes coordinating and booking bank and agency staff to ensure clinical and non-clinical areas are safely and effectively staffed.
As a key member of the team, you will be the first point of contact for a wide range of temporary staffing queries and requests, working closely with Trust staff, external agencies, and bank workers. You will provide high-quality, responsive, and customer-focused administrative support.
We are looking for someone who thrives in a busy environment, has excellent communication and organisational skills, is confident using administrative systems and databases, and consistently delivers exceptional customer service.
Main duties of the job
Delivering excellent customer service, the post holder will be responsible for handling temporary staffing requests, ensuring shifts are filled promptly. They will manage communications with departments and agencies, maintain accurate records through the Trust’s rostering systems (BankStaff) and support the smooth running of day-to-day operations.
The role requires strong attention to detail, effective time management, and a high level of administrative accuracy to ensure that compliant, qualified staff are deployed.
Excellent communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels are essential for success in this role.
While not essential, previous experience with temporary staffing, rostering systems, or healthcare administration would be advantageous.
The post holder will be based at our Worthing site, with occasional travel to other Trust sites as required.

Essential criteria
1. GCSE Maths and English or equivalent qualification
2. Proven experience in a range of administrative processes

4. Proven ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with all levels of staff both verbally and in writing
5. Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Packages; Word, Excel, Outlook)
6. Able to plan, prioritise, implement and meet targets in a complex and pressure environment, whilst producing accurate work
7. Proven experience of successfully managing high volumes of work activity within challenging timescales
8. Excellent interpersonal, influencing, negotiating and empathic skills
9. Experience of close working relationships with senior clinicians
10. Evidenced customer service skills
11. Sound and professional telephone manner with the proven ability to deal with difficult enquiries
