Overview
The Northumberland County Council Public Health Team is based within the Public Health, Inequalities & Stronger Communities directorate. The Public Health Team is responsible for commissioning and delivering services and influencing parts of the system to improve the health of our residents in Northumberland and reduce health inequalities.
About the Role: An exciting opportunity is available for a highly motivated and proactive Health Improvement Practitioner to assist in delivering key public health priorities including mental health, suicide prevention and wellbeing portfolio of public health work to support local communities. The primary purpose of the postholder will be to support the Public Health Manager to deliver to the Council\'s strategic objectives in relation to mental health, suicide prevention and wellbeing portfolio in the development and delivery of prevention work aligned to our public health priorities in collaboration with key partners, including the NHS and VCSE sectors.
Responsibilities
* Contribute to, influence, develop and implement local mental health, suicide prevention and wellbeing prevention focused work based on need within Northumberland.
* Support the delivery of Making Every Contact Count (MECC) with partners and stakeholders in the portfolio area.
* Support the development and delivery of training in respect to public health priorities across Northumberland.
* Work closely with partner organisations to raise awareness of mental health, suicide prevention and wellbeing support and reduce stigma.
* Develop and deliver public health campaign resources in respect of mental health, suicide prevention and wellbeing campaigns and initiatives, sharing Northumberland specific signposting and support.
* Support local and regional delivery and activity in relation to the portfolio area.
* Ensure methods of data analysis, monitoring, evaluating and reporting are embedded within this area of work.
* Ensure alignment to the Northumberland Inequalities Plan, the Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy and NCC\'s Corporate Plan.
* Support wider public health priorities as needed in collaboration with colleagues in the Public Health Team.
Qualifications
You must hold a degree in a relevant subject or equivalent qualifications or experience and be able to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the main health inequalities in Northumberland and the social determinants of health.
