The post holder will play a key role in the Mental Capacity / DoLs team hosted by the Primary Community Therapies Group, Swansea Bay University Health Board (SBUHB), supporting the Mental Capacity Act Lead to develop, manage, and deliver systems and processes in respect of MCA/DoLS, which ensure the Health Board meets its legal duty in discharging its responsibilities under the Mental Capacity Act (2005). In the course of their duties will ensure all advice given with regards to care and treatment across SBUHB supports compliance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards – and will;
• Support the development of and adherence to SBUHB MCA/ DoLS policies and procedures, including the development and delivery of training
• Be an operational lead for Mental Capacity Act (MCA) / DoLS, assisting the MCA Lead to ensure SBUHB is compliant with the Mental Capacity Act (2005), and other related legislation and case law.
• Be an expert practitioner in all aspects of MCA legislation and case law, interpreting health policy and legislation, providing advice on how this should be implemented within the organisation.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
1. Degree level in a Health / Social Care discipline.
2. Relevant Master level qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience
3. Valid registration for one of the following professions: •Nursing (First Level Adult) •Social worker
4. Evidence of recent CPD / Management Development.
5. Extensive Knowledge of current MCA and safeguarding adults.
6. Able to use the full suite of Microsoft office including virtual platforms eg teams etc

9. Extensive experience as a Best Interest Assessor.
10. Demonstrate knowledge of legislation, policies, and guidance regarding adults. Demonstrate knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the supporting Code of Practice.
11. Use types of achievements and activities that would be likely to predict success in the role rather than ‘years’, e.g. Extensive previous experience of working with health finance systems.

12. Currently in a Best Interest Assessor role.
