Job Title: Year 1 Teaching Assistant Location: Fulwood, Preston, Lancashire (North West England) Job Type: Temporary – Full Time (Term Time Only) Salary: £13.75 – £14 per hour Level 2 role. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 1 Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and supportive mainstream primary school in Fulwood, Preston. This is a full-time temporary role, supporting the Year 1 class teacher in delivering high-quality learning experiences across the curriculum. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment, helping pupils to develop both academically and socially. Key Responsibilities: Support the Year 1 teacher in delivering engaging lessons across the curriculum. Provide individual and small-group support to reinforce key learning concepts. Assist in the planning and delivery of phonics sessions and guided reading groups – experience in these areas would be highly advantageous. Help maintain a positive and well-structured classroom environment. Supervise pupils to ensure safety and wellbeing throughout the school day. Support with classroom organisation, displays, and administrative tasks as needed. Required Qualifications and Experience: Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English. Previous experience working with children in an educational setting. Good understanding of child development and how children learn. Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills. Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to supporting young learners. Preferred Qualifications: Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification. First Aid certification. Experience supporting children with early reading and phonics development. Working Conditions: Temporary, full-time position (term time only).
