Purpose of the Role
The Systems Accountant will play a pivotal role in transforming and optimising the organisation's finance systems and processes. This role will focus on mapping current financial workflows, aligning and integrating existing systems, driving automation, and supporting the successful scoping, implementation, and integration of a new ERP system.
Key Responsibilities
Process Mapping & Systems Alignment
* Analyse and document existing finance processes across the business, identifying pain points, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
* Map end-to-end financial workflows to ensure consistency and alignment between systems and operational practices.
* Collaborate with Finance, IT, and Operations to ensure financial processes are fully aligned with business requirements.
Systems Optimisation & Automation
* Review and enhance the performance of current finance systems and tools, identifying opportunities for automation and simplification.
* Design and implement automated solutions to reduce manual input, improve accuracy, and streamline reporting.
* Champion best practice in systems use and ensure the finance function is equipped with effective digital tools.
ERP System Implementation
* Lead or support the scoping, selection, and implementation of a new ERP system.
* Define system requirements and functional specifications in collaboration with key stakeholders.
* Coordinate data migration, validation, and system configuration.
* Support change management activities to ensure smooth adoption across the organisation.
System Testing & Integration
* Develop and execute test plans, scripts, and scenarios for new systems and integrations.
* Ensure successful integration between the ERP and other business systems (e.g., CRM, payroll, procurement, reporting tools).
* Identify and resolve system or data integrity issues during testing and go-live.
Continuous Improvement & Support
* Act as a key liaison between Finance and IT, ensuring system changes and updates align with finance requirements.
* Provide training, guidance, and documentation to end users.
* Monitor system performance post-implementation and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Skills & Experience
* Qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) or Qualified by Experience
* Proven experience in a systems accounting or finance transformation role.
* Hands-on involvement in ERP implementation
* Strong understanding of finance processes — P2P, O2C, R2R, budgeting, and reporting.
* Experience in process mapping and system optimisation using automation tools or workflow technologies (
* Excellent data and systems analysis skills; confident with reporting tools.
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into finance language.
