We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Senior Physiotherapist to join our team as a specialist in Haematology/Oncology.
The post holder will be responsible for the advanced assessment, treatment and ongoing management of mainly Haematology patients. You will work closely as part of a multidisciplinary team with significant Consultant involvement, covering a 17 bedded ward. Predominantly Haematology, the ward can also include wider Oncology patients and some medical outliers.
You will be supported by our welcoming and forward-thinking Neuro team. Provided with regular supervision, access to yearly CPD funding, and opportunities for service development and innovation, you'll also take an active role in wider department education. This also forms part of the medical weekend and emergency on call rotas.
This post is ideal for an experienced Band 6 physiotherapist who is seeking to further develop their Haematology knowledge, leadership skills and educational role within a supportive and forward-thinking physiotherapy service.
Main duties of the job
* Deliver high-quality physiotherapy services, assessing and treating patients, including those with complex needs, using evidence-based practice.
* Undertake comprehensive patient assessments, formulate individualised management and treatment plans, and implement a range of specialised interventions.
* Maintain professional and legal accountability for all aspects of clinical practice, including accurate patient documentation and adherence to professional guidelines.
* Demonstrate expertise in clinical governance and risk management, ensuring that treatment plans are supported by current evidence.
* Utilise advanced manual techniques and therapeutic handling, often requiring moderate physical effort.
* Stay abreast of developments within the speciality, analyse current research, and implement changes in clinical practice.
* Safely use and ensure the maintenance of physiotherapy equipment, adhering to departmental policies.
* Participate in Weekend and emergency on call rotas.
Qualifications
* HCPC registration
* Degree in Physiotherapy
* Evidence of recent clinically relevant study
* Member of relevant clinical interest group
* CSP member
* Clinical educators training
Experience
* Completion of band 5 rotations (This includes experience in the relevant clinical areas, General Medicine, Orthopaedics, Surgical/ICU, Elderly Care, Neuro, Outpatients)
* On call respiratory working competence
* Training and supervision to support all physiotherapy staff and students.
* Post graduate NHS experience of working as part of an MDT
* Relevant clinical respiratory post graduate NHS experience
* Evidence of Audit/Research experience
* Experience in development of a project or service.
* Experience working in Oncology/ Haematology in NHS
* Band 6 Experience in NHS
Skills & Knowledge
* Ability to undertake long working
* Ability to pass skills/knowledge onto others in formal and informal environment
* Sound knowledge of physiotherapy in the relevant area
* Interpersonal skills including clear, concise and effective verbal and written reports.
* Be able to work single handedly with individuals and groups
* Demonstrate understanding & involvement of Clinical Governance and risk assessment.
* Basic knowledge of health legislation.
