Job Description
Key Responsibilities include:
* Managing a team to plan, develop and implement new or retooled facilities from concept design to stable running production.
* Planning, developing and implementation of assembly and test processes and facilities.
* Providing feasibility statements for product development designs to suit manufacturing build requirements.
* Ensuring robust process quality planning including build simulations and FMEAs.
* Supporting virtual build events and physical builds at workshop, assembly plant locations, piloting build and manufacturing plant locations, raising and managing issues where appropriate.
* Evaluating suitability of manufacturing technologies for a wide range of applications – i.e. manual check, 3D laser scan, vision system.
* Preparing, issuing and evaluating supplier Request for Quotations.
* Developing assembly systems in house and helping define make vs buy opportunities/risks.
* Assembly process & equipment verification at suppliers and at home manufacturing facility.
* Leading new model planning through development of process estimates against study requests.
* Managing technical issues, offering guidance to the team and escalating where appropriate.
* Representing PTME at program meetings at all levels and present, where applicable.
* Co-ordinating the development and submission of departmental responses to studies.
* Achieving equipment targets of all new & modified facilities.
Qualifications
Required:
* A track record of delivering projects involving multi-skilled teams and solving complex problems.
* Knowledge, experience and understanding of assembly processes and equipment. Automated assembly and rundown cells, manual assembly workstations, in-process test equipment and ability to analyse and interpret performance data output from those facilities.
* Ability to review engineering drawings and GD&T knowledge.
* Experience with non-mechanical joining and sealing methods including structural adhesives.
* Clear understanding of part, assembly and system interaction which involves tolerances, variability, and methods of location and measurement.
* Project Management experience of facility installation, commissioning and product launch.
* Experience and working knowledge of Health and Safety Audits and ergonomics including risk assessments.
* Strong IT skills in MS Office, Minitab (or similar), DC Tool programming, Visualisation Mock Up, CATIA V6, Byteworx and Sciemetric Qualityworx.
* Ability to produce clear instructions, work to tight deadlines and communicate well with stakeholders at all levels.
Desired:
* Experience in facility system validation and handover to manufacturing.
* Fluency in electrical and mechanical machine drawings.
* Battery pack architecture/appreciation.
* 6 Sigma, or similar problem-solving competence.
* MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), SAP, and Controls (Rockwell or Siemens) understanding.
* Experience of PCDS or similar.
