Are you a skilled Mechanical Bias Technician who takes pride in delivering a safe and reliable estate for patients, staff, and visitors? Gloucestershire Managed Services (GMS) is seeking an experienced mechanical maintenance professional to join our Operational Estates team.
You will carry put planned, reactive and emergency maintenance on a wide range of mechanical and building services systems, including:
* Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC)
* Plumbing and safe water systems in healthcare buildings
* Steam / ACOP pressure systems
* Medical gas pipeline systems
You will act or work towards acting, as a Competent Person (CP), for these systems, supporting the safe operation of critical hospital infrastructure in accordance with legislation, NHS England Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs) and Health Building Notes (HBNs), and organisational policies.
This is a shift-based role and includes participation in an on‑call rota, providing essential support during evenings, weekends and out of hours periods. In this varied and hands‑on role, you will:
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, and fault diagnosis across mechanical plant systems and equipment.
* Work towards or act as Competent Person (CP) under the direction of the Workshop Manager (WSM) and Authorised Person(s) (AP)
* Undertake installation, assembly, minor modifications and commissioning of mechanical components and equipment.
* Maintain accurate maintenance and asset records using digital systems (e.g., CAFM / PDA)
* Work safely at all times and comply with relevant legislation, Health & safety regulations, NHS England HTMs, HBNs, and Infection Prevention and Control standards.
* Liaise with service leads to minimise disruption to clinical and non-clinical services.
* Provide multi‑trade support, including minor electrical and fabric‑related work where appropriate.
* Participate in the on‑call rota and undertake training to maintain technical competence.
