Reporting to: Operations Director
Location: 100% onsite
Hours of work: Monday – Thursday 8am – 4.30pm, Friday 8am – 1.30pm (37.5hrs pw). May require occasional evening or weekend work to meet production demands.
Package: Based on experience, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, company pension, EAP.

Job role:
The Health and Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment by developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety and environmental standards and policies in accordance with current legislation.
This role involves identifying potential hazards, conducting risk assessments, training staff, and promoting a culture of health and safety throughout the site.
Key responsibilities:
* Implement and enforce health and safety policies and procedures
* Works in conjunction with the relevant department heads to ensure that Risk, COSHH, and safe systems of work are maintained and remain updated on the elected Digital Management System
* Ensures that Monthly site inspections and audits are carried out and completed via the elected Digital Management System and ensure all actions are closed
* Ensure all staff have the correct tools, equipment and PPE that comply with the requirements of the HSE
* Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments to ensure compliance with legislation and company policies
* Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; prepare reports with findings and corrective actions
* Coordinate and conduct safety training sessions and toolbox talks for employees
* Maintain records of safety-related incidents and provide statistical analysis and reports
* Ensure emergency procedures (fire drills, first aid) are practiced and reviewed regularly.
* Collaborate with management and staff to improve health and safety targets and measures
* Ensures the business compliance with HSE regulations such as Legionella, Asbestos etc.
* Stay updated on new legislation and maintain compliance with legal requirements.
* Assist in the development of Safe Systems of Work (SSoWs), method statements, and risk assessments
* Work with the external partner to ensure health checks and surveillance is completed in line with regulations
Experience and Skills to be considered:
* Minimum 5 years' experience of health, safety and environmental regulations and systems
* Must have IOSH Managing Safely
* Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation
* Experience of working in a manufacturing environment is preferred
* First aid and fire warden certified is preferred
Personal Skills:
* Excellent communication skills at all levels of the business
* Proven ability to influence all levels of the business to ensure a safe working environment
* Able to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in managing all aspects of health and safety
* Proven experience in managing conflicting priorities
