Role Summary
Are you ready to make a positive impact on the lives of secondary-aged students with Special Educational Needs and Mental Health (SEMH)? Aspire People are seeking an experienced and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant for a SEN school in Leicester. This is an exciting opportunity to provide 1:1 support to secondary students who require tailored assistance in managing their emotions and behaviour in a nurturing and supportive environment.
Responsibilities
* Offering 1:1 support to students aged 11+ with SEMH needs, ensuring they remain engaged and focused in class
* Assisting in developing strategies to manage challenging behaviours and promote positive emotional regulation
* Helping students with personal development, social skills, and academic progress
* Supporting the classroom teacher in delivering individualised learning plans
* Building strong, supportive relationships with students, helping them feel safe and understood
Requirements
* Previous experience working in a UK secondary school, ideally in a SEN or SEMH role
* A solid understanding of SEMH needs and the strategies required to support students effectively
* Patience, resilience, and the ability to work under pressure
* A compassionate and proactive approach to supporting students' academic and emotional well-being
* Ability to work as part of a team with teachers and other support staff
