The role involves joining our broadcast and digital news team at ITV News Central, a multi-platform operation. You will help develop an online presence through our website, social media and the ITV Central regional rail on ITVX, while producing content for television and digital platforms.
We are looking for a self-motivated, multi-skilled candidate with strong ideas relevant to the Midlands. The successful candidate will have experience in television and digital news production, work well in a busy newsroom, and manage a demanding workload under tight deadlines with composure.
The role is based in the Birmingham newsroom and includes producing our bulletins during Good Morning Britain, as well as lunchtime, late and weekend bulletins. You will curate our website and publish stories on ITVX, along with story planning. Strong editorial judgement, creativity, and excellent organisational skills are essential, with a passion for digital curation and engaging our digital audience.
You will have excellent written and verbal communication, strong working relationships with colleagues and external contacts, good editorial judgement, social media skills, and knowledge of the Midlands audiences. You should be qualified in media law and understand the Ofcom Code.

Responsibilities
* Produce bulletins during Good Morning Britain and other scheduled slots (lunchtime, late, weekend).
* Curate and publish content on the ITV News Central website and ITVX; assist with story planning.
* Develop original story ideas and create content for on-air and online across multiple platforms.
* Collaborate with colleagues and external contacts; manage a demanding workload and tight deadlines.
* Contribute to digital storytelling and audience engagement strategies.
Qualifications and Skills
* Fully qualified NCTJ, BJTC or equivalent experience.
* Working knowledge of Ofcom code, media law and compliance.
* Ability to generate, research and develop original ideas with a creative approach to storytelling for both on-air and online.
* Knowledge of digital platforms and experience in reaching new online audiences.
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to plan multiple stories while prioritising tasks.
* Strong writing skills for TV and digital (accurate spelling and grammar).
* Excellent news judgement and strong knowledge of the Midlands and relevant audience interests.
* Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
* Self-motivation, quick-thinking and resilience in a busy newsroom across day, early, late and weekend shifts.
* Willingness to learn additional skills and share them with others.
* Ability to work to deadlines and make decisive decisions under pressure.
* Commitment to bringing in stories from underrepresented communities across the region.
Additional Information
Note: Rostered hours include weekend work, late shifts, early mornings, and Bank Holidays. Shifts may start at 04:45 and finish around 00:00. You will need your own transport to and from the main workplace.
News production can require long and unsociable hours at short notice. Some team members may travel to district offices or work at other ITV News operations and participate in off-site meetings or training.
