Job Purpose
To deliver high-quality Religious Studies education to students at Aldridge School, fostering a stimulating and supportive learning environment that encourages students to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning:
* Plan and deliver engaging and well-structured lessons in Religious Studies.
* Set high expectations for student behaviour and achievement.
* Use a variety of teaching methods to cater to different learning styles and abilities.
* Assess and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback to students and parents.
* Promote a love of learning and intellectual curiosity in students.
Curriculum Development:
* Contribute to the development and review of the Religious Studies curriculum.
* Ensure lessons are aligned with the Walsall Agreed Syllabus at Key Stage 3 and AQA specifications at Key Stages 4 and 5.
* Incorporate current pedagogical research into lesson planning and delivery.
Student Support:
* Provide a safe and stimulating learning environment rooted in mutual respect.
* Support students' social, emotional, and intellectual development.
* Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of all students, including those with special educational needs and those with English as an additional language.
Professional Development:
* Engage in continuous professional development to improve teaching practice.
* Participate in regular meetings and training sessions.
* Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and resources.
Behaviour Management:
* Implement the school's behaviour policy consistently and fairly.
* Establish clear rules and routines for behaviour in the classroom.
* Maintain good relationships with students and manage classes effectively.
Wider School Contribution:
* Contribute to the wider life and ethos of the school.
* Participate in extracurricular activities and school events.
* Develop effective professional relationships with colleagues and support staff.
