About The School St. Michael’s is a friendly and successful school set in beautiful grounds, moments from Highgate village and less than 10 minutes walk from Highgate tube. The original school was built in 1852 but has since expanded with a modern junior block. We are a busy school and nursery offering wraparound care and a full schedule of clubs and activities as well as fundraising events.
Job Details
* Hours: 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday 12.30‑7.30 pm)
* Salary: Scale 4–6 depending on experience. Currently £29,446 – £34,533 per annum
* Contract: One year with opportunity to extend
* Closing date: Monday 8 December 2025
* Job to start: ASAP
Responsibilities
* Ensuring the school environment is welcoming, clean and well maintained to the highest standard and Health & Safety compliant.
* Ensuring site safety and security.
* Carrying out minor repairs and decorative works, overseeing planned maintenance and emergency repairs.
* Moving equipment and furniture as necessary for assemblies, meetings etc.
* Some limited overtime to cover evening and weekend lettings.
Qualifications & Experience
We are looking for a positive, self‑motivated individual with previous experience of site management, caretaking and/or a background with trade skills. Candidates must be prepared to undertake Health & Safety training and any other training appropriate for the role.
The successful candidate will work alongside our Site Manager with opportunities for further training and excellent professional development. We have a dedicated team of teachers and support staff, our pupils are well‑behaved and enthusiastic learners, and we have very supportive parents and a governing body that make St Michael’s a truly rewarding place to work.
