Overview
Senior Principal Water Resource Consultant role at Stantec, focused on leading water resource projects in the UK. The opportunity involves working with water companies, regulators, design engineers, contractors, planners, and other stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes across multiple projects.
Responsibilities
* Lead the planning, delivery, and implementation of water resource projects, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, timescales, quality, and regulatory requirements.
* Contribute expertise to the development of early career team members in technical areas such as WRMPs, Regional Water Resource plans, Drought Plans, water resource modelling, demand management or forecast, options development, optimisation, and regulatory environmental assessment (HRA, SEA, WFD) and/or development of SROs through the RAPID led gated process.
* Maintain a client-facing role and grow internal and external networks to achieve positive project outcomes.
* Experience in running commercial projects, bids, and proposals within budget.
* Support the wider Water and Environment department when required, collaborating with other specialisms and adapting to various projects.
About You
We welcome people from regulatory, water company, academia, or consultancy backgrounds who have recent experience applying knowledge of water resources in policy and technical areas. Candidates should be comfortable working in fast-paced multidisciplinary teams, closely with clients, statutory authorities, and stakeholders. Prior involvement in the assessment and development of WRMPs, regional plans, SROs and/or Drought Plans is desirable.
Qualifications
* Strong experience in water resources-focused projects including assessment and development of WRMPs, drought plans, and regional plans; experience with supply-demand balance, hydrological/hydrogeological assessments, demand forecasting, options appraisal, and risk and uncertainty.
* Experience with WINEP investigations, Environmental Destination, Water Framework Directive assessments, permitting and abstraction licensing, catchment management, and climate change impact assessments.
* Extensive experience in the water industry.
* Degree in a relevant subject (geography, geological sciences, environmental science, civil or environmental engineering); postgraduate degree in hydrology/hydrogeology/water resources management is a plus.
* Active involvement with relevant institutions (e.g., CIWEM, ICE, IW) and chartered status or working towards it.
