A Different Way to Practice Architecture...

Multiple Remote Architectural Opportunities (Architectural Assistants up to Senior Architect level)

International Design Studio (Remote Collaboration Model)

Not every architect thrives in a busy studio environment.

Some do their best thinking when they have space… space to focus, space to design, and space to work deeply without the noise and distraction that often comes with large offices.

For the right individuals, this opportunity offers a very different way of practicing architecture.

About the Studio…

We are working with a highly experienced architectural design leader who runs a boutique international design consultancy operating across architecture, design advisory and strategic project input.

Earlier in his career he was a key figure within one of the UK’s well-known architectural studios, helping lead a respected team delivering a range of projects including residential, hospitality and mixed-use schemes across the UK and internationally.

Today, the studio operates with a deliberately different structure.

Rather than building a large permanent office team, the practice collaborates with a carefully curated network of architects and designers working remotely, assembling teams around specific projects. The studio sometimes describes this approach as building an “Avengers-like” collective of architectural professionals, each bringing their own specialist skills, interests and perspectives to the work.

It is a model that allows talented individuals to contribute to exceptional projects internationally, while maintaining the flexibility and focus that traditional studio environments rarely offer.

Current Opportunities…

The studio is currently supporting a large and varied portfolio of live projects internationally, resulting in the need to expand their network of collaborating architects.

They are therefore keen to identify architectural professionals across several levels:

* Part 1 Architectural Assistants
* Part 2 Architectural Assistants
* Architects
* Senior Architects / Senior Designers

In particular, the studio would be very interested in speaking with experienced architects or senior designers who are confident shaping projects at concept and planning stages, helping lead early design thinking on a number of live schemes.

Projects span both UK-based and international work, covering a varied range of scales and typologies including high-end residential developments, hospitality projects, boutique resort concepts and mixed-use schemes.

The studio’s work ranges from smaller, design-led private developments through to large-scale international projects, often forming part of wider masterplans or complex multi-building schemes.

Much of the studio’s work sits at the early design and planning stages, where strong architectural thinking, creativity and the ability to shape a project from first principles are particularly valued.

That said, there are also opportunities for architectural professionals who enjoy developing projects technically, supporting the progression of live schemes through detailed design and delivery stages where required.

One of the strengths of this working model is that architects are often matched to projects based on their particular strengths and interests, whether that be early-stage design thinking, strategic concept development, sector specific or technical delivery.

Fully Remote Working…

All roles operate completely remotely.

Architects collaborate through daily virtual check-ins and ongoing project coordination, working together across different locations and time zones.

Architects collaborating with the studio do so on a contractor basis, typically operating through their own limited company.

This model tends to work particularly well for individuals who:

* are comfortable working independently
* enjoy extended periods of focused design work
* have a well-organised home working environment
* communicate clearly and thoughtfully
* prefer depth of work over constant studio activity

Many of the architects who thrive most within this structure describe themselves as naturally more introverted or reflective in their working style.

This is a focused, design-led working environment rather than a traditional busy studio culture.

Contractor Model…

As mentioned, architectural professionals joining the studio collaborate on a contractor basis, typically operating through their own limited company.

This arrangement allows the studio to work with talented individuals regardless of their physical location, while also offering a level of flexibility that many architects increasingly value.

Importantly, this is not a short-term or experimental model.

We originally introduced architects to the studio over five years ago under this structure, and several of those individuals are still working with the practice today.

For the right person, this can therefore become a long-term and stable collaboration.

At the same time, the model can also suit individuals who may want a defined period of experience before moving on.

For example:

* Part 1 or Part 2 architectural assistants planning to return to university
* architects seeking greater lifestyle flexibility
* experienced designers looking for long-term remote work

Software Environment…

The studio takes a flexible approach to software, with projects currently utilising a combination of:

* Revit
* AutoCAD
* Vectorworks

Different projects may require different platforms, but overall the focus is on capability rather than strict software alignment.

Exposure to Both UK and Global Projects…

Architects working with the studio gain exposure to an unusually diverse range of work.

Current and recent projects include:

* luxury residential developments
* boutique hospitality schemes
* island resort masterplans
* private client developments
* residential and mixed-use projects in major international markets

Who This Might Suit…

This opportunity will not appeal to everyone.

But it tends to resonate strongly with architectural professionals who:

* enjoy working independently and thoughtfully
* are comfortable with fully remote collaboration
* value focus and autonomy
* are excited by international projects and varied design challenges
* want to contribute to a design-led global project portfolio, whilst still having the opportunity to work on UK projects.

This is a rare opportunity to collaborate with a highly experienced design leader on ambitious projects around the world, within a working model that prioritises focus, flexibility and creativity.

As mentioned, opportunities exist across multiple levels, from Part 1 Architectural Assistants through to Senior Architects, and we are open to speaking with individuals who feel this style of working may suit them.

If this sounds like something you would enjoy exploring, please apply with your CV, respond to our screening questions and we will be in touch shortly.
