Ophthalmic scrub nurse

We are looking for a new Scrub Nurse / Practitioner to join our Whiteley site. This will be 37.5 hours over 4 days per week including weekends on a rota basis. The clinic provides free on site parking, but it is also accessible by public transport.

Job Responsibilities

Scrub Nurses / Practitioners are an integral part of our theatre teams and will undertake a variety of duties. You will set up the theatre for the day, assist the surgeon through the daily theatre list, anticipate and resolve potential problems, and ensure patient safety, clinical compliance and hygiene standards. At the end of each day you will help clean down the theatre and manage clinical waste and disposal procedures. In addition, you will perform medicine management, audit duties and maintain accurate patient records.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with valid NMC or HCPC registration.
• Nursing Degree or Diploma (typical BSc in Adult Nursing or equivalent).

Experience

• Previous hospital eye service or private eye clinic experience.
• Knowledge of current developments in Optometry.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume theatre setting.
• Experience supporting surgeons during theatre problem-solving.
• Commitment to continuous professional development.
• Excellent verbal and written English.
• Team player willing to support others and train or coach.
• Competent computer user.
