Responsibilities

Our Childrens' Ward provides compassionate care for babies, children and young people from 0 to 16 years of age, including care for a range of specialties and conditions including High Dependency Care. Our unit encompasses assessment, observation and treatment of patients and undertakes day case services for our communities. We also have dedicated Children"s Out-Patient departments. This ensures a rich variety of experiences and development for our staff.

About us

Lincoln Hospital is a thriving university city and, with the opening of the medical school, provides all major specialties and a 24-hour major accident and emergency service. United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust has been granted teaching hospital status. Pilgrim Hospital serves the South Lincolnshire area and provides all major specialties and a 24-hour major accident and emergency service. Grantham and District Hospital serves the local community with ambulatory paediatric and accident and emergency services. Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have a Group arrangement known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG). The Group aims to improve care across Lincolnshire and will operate under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, while retaining separate statutory names and obligations.

Person Specification and Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, Aptitudes – Essential

* Good written, oral and IT communication skills
* Safeguarding awareness
* Awareness and knowledge of the dignity in care agenda
* Ability to evidence/demonstrate key values and behaviours in line with the Trust framework

Desirable

* Completed cannulation and venepuncture training and competencies

Specific Requirements – Essential

* Commitment to child and family centred care
* Commitment to own professional development

Qualifications – Essential

* RSCN/ Child Branch
* Safeguarding Training/Awareness
* NMC Registration

Desirable

* PLS/ APLS/ EPLS

Previous Experience – Essential

* Suitable for newly qualified nurses
