Senior Scientist – Cell Processing
On‑site
3-month FTC
We’re supporting an innovative biotech developing next‑generation cell therapy manufacturing solutions. They are looking for a Contract Scientist to join their Cell Processing team and support high‑quality, routine laboratory workflows.
You’ll be a key bench‑based contributor, ensuring reliable, consistent execution of daily cell culture and assay activities. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical lab work and maintaining high standards across multiple ongoing projects.
Key duties include:
* Supporting day‑to‑day cell processing workflows, including cell culture maintenance and reagent preparation.
* Performing routine aseptic tasks: thawing, passaging, and cryopreservation of cell lines.
* Maintaining suspension cell lines (e.g., Jurkat), monitoring growth and viability, and preparing cultures for downstream activities.
* Preparing sterile reagents, media, buffers, cytokines and other workflow components.
* Carrying out closed‑system processing using syringes, luer locks, sterile tube welding and related single‑use components.
* Confident manual liquid handling with a strong focus on consistency and accuracy.
* Supporting execution of routine assays, including flow cytometry sample prep and basic molecular assay workflows.
Essential experience:
* Proven hands‑on aseptic technique in a cell culture environment.
* Experience culturing suspension cell lines (ideally Jurkat), preferably without antibiotics.
* Practical experience in thawing, passaging and cryopreservation.
* Confidence with closed‑system processing (syringes, luer locks, tube welding etc.).
* Strong manual pipetting skills with excellent reproducibility.
* Experience maintaining cell cultures and preparing media/reagents.
* Ability to follow SOPs accurately and maintain clear lab records.
* High attention to detail, reliability, and strong organisational habits.
Desirable:
* Experience running or setting up flow cytometry experiments.
* Familiarity with BSL2 practices, and handling primary cells or established cell lines.
* Experience supporting routine assay workflows (flow cytometry prep, molecular assays, microbiology etc.).
If you’re a dependable, detail‑oriented cell biologist who loves practical lab work and wants to be part of the evolving future of cell therapy manufacturing, please apply with your CV in word or reach out to paige.keenan@srgtalent.com for more information.
