We are seeking an experienced Senior/Principal Geotechnical Engineer to lead projects and support our portfolio of prestigious geotechnical projects across the UK and internationally.
Your role
* You will be a chartered geotechnical engineer with a proven track record in technical leadership and project management.
* The role includes mentoring junior geotechnical engineers; strong communication skills are essential.
* You should have a degree in civil engineering or geology with a postgraduate qualification in a geotechnical subject, and hold chartered status as a civil engineer or geologist.
* You should have the right flair and ability to help us develop and expand our infrastructure or energy geotechnics capability, building on our existing portfolio across a broad spectrum of sectors.
About You
* A solid academic background, ideally MSc or equivalent.
* Chartered status and proven experience in a fast‑moving engineering consultancy environment.
* Project management experience: understanding of engineering consultancy and design markets, client relationships, work planning, and commercial management.
* Proven geotechnical design experience and numerical/analytical capabilities for structures, foundations, slopes, and anchors using tools such as GeoStudio, Repute, Wallap, etc.
* Digital geotechnical engineering capability, including application of AI and machine learning.
* Application of CDM Regulations in design and ground investigation.
* Excellent interpersonal and technical skills; ability to lead geotechnical design teams.
* Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with clients to support effective work completion.
* Commercial track record in negotiating and running successful projects, with strong report writing.
* Willingness to travel on short UK and overseas assignments; valid UK driving licence.
* Potential to serve as a Railway Geotechnics Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE), leading design teams and client liaison on earthworks and foundation packages for prestigious schemes.

Security clearance
This role may require security clearance. Offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant clearance level. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require proof of UK residency of 5 years or longer.
