You will spearhead multi-disciplinary rail programs at all phases of design, seamlessly integrating designs by disciplines such as architecture, track, civils, electrical, telecoms, structures and signalling into safe, reliable, and maintainable solutions.

You will drive the technical strategy, oversee systems integration, and ensure quality assurance while mentoring teams, engaging clients, and delivering exceptional outcomes on complex rail corridors and projects.

You will also help the transportation business to grow through strong client relationships and strategic planning for pursuits, as well as supporting tenders.

Here’s what you’ll do:
  • Act as the primary technical liaison for clients, translating operational and business requirements into robust technical solutions and phased delivery plans.
  • Lead workshops, conduct options assessments, and facilitate value engineering and risk/issue resolution sessions with operators, maintainers, utilities, and third‑party stakeholders.
  • Establish and manage the technical governance framework, including design reviews, hazard logs, change control, conformity assessments, and independent checks/peer reviews.
  • Ensure adherence to client specifications, standards, and AECOM quality procedures, maintaining a clear audit trail and deliverables register.
  • Work with others in the business to plan for and execute tenders through strategic planning and development of client and internal relationships.

Qualifications

Here’s what we’re looking for:
  • Extensive experience in delivering complex rail programs, demonstrating proven leadership across multi-disciplinary rail systems and civil interfaces.
  • Strong systems integration expertise encompassing track/civil works, stations, traction power/OCS, signalling, telecoms, and SCADA.
  • Experience guiding designs through construction, testing & commissioning, and entry into service with operators and maintainers.
  • Proficiency in digital delivery and coordination workflows, as well as requirements management approaches.
  • Exceptional client‑facing communication and stakeholder facilitation skills, with the ability to influence decisions and navigate complex trade‑offs.
  • A relevant engineering or architectural degree, along with professional registration.

As an Equal Opportunity Employer, we believe in each person’s potential, and we’ll help you reach yours.

We are a Disability Confident Employer and will offer an interview to applicants who have a disability or long‑term condition, who meet the minimum/essential criteria for the role.

All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
