MAvAM play a pivotal role in providing robust and influential modelling and appraisal outputs to shape aviation and maritime policy and support wider transport policy.
AMBA (Aviation, Maritime and Borders Analysis) is a multi-disciplinary analytical division with around 50 high-performing team members who provide expertise on modelling, economic analysis, statistical analysis, operation research, social research and advice on appraisal and evaluation to shape strategic thinking and policy development.

Team members are required to work flexibly across team boundaries, supporting each other to deliver against the priorities for the Aviation, Maritime and Security Group. Roles in AMBA provide the opportunity to work closely alongside other analytical colleagues and internal and external industry partners. This role will manage the National Air Passenger Demand Model (NAPDM) which is used to forecast unconstrained demand and feeds into other aviation models run within the team.
Top Responsibilities
* Managing the National Air Passenger Demand Model (NAPDM) which is used to forecast unconstrained demand and feeds into other aviation models run within the team.
* Take the lead on the demand estimation element of updating and publishing aviation forecasts and work alongside fellow aviation modellers to produce these forecasts.
* Represent the department at the Multi-disciplinary Working Group on Long-term Traffic Forecasts (MDWG-LTF) within the ICAO

About You
To succeed in this role, you can demonstrate knowledge and experience in working on, updating and improving transport models with a focus on demanding forecasting. You have experience of explaining and presenting complex analysis to a wide audience, including the creation of visualisations.
You are some who enjoys working in collaboration with others and can successful work flexibly across different areas.There is the potential to line manage an economist as part of this role, your professionalism and consistency will motivate others to succeed.
To be eligible for this role you will need to either be a member of the Government Economist Service (GES) profession, or demonstrate how you meet the qualification requirements.
* Have a first or upper second-class honours degree in economics (or international equivalent), or a postgraduate degree in economics. If it is a joint degree, at least 50% of the course modules must be in economics.
* Have studied both macroeconomics and microeconomics.
