Overview
An opportunity has arisen at Royal Lancaster Infirmary for a Non Clinical Support Worker in the Emergency Department.
University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Foundation Trust provides acute hospital care to the local population. We would invite candidates who want to help us make a difference for our patient care, ensuring safe and effective flow through ED in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
* Transferring of patients to wards, CT department, x-ray department and any other area to increase and maximise patient flow
* Providing housekeeping duties, to support Clinical Staff
* To co-ordinate all patient facilities services within ED
* To ensure that ED is safe, clean, tidy and a comfortable environment
* Ensure that food is available to meet the patients’ needs
* Assist the ward staff to receive, welcome and guide patients and visitors around the ED
* Assist nursing staff with the feeding of patients who are unable to do so for themselves and complete food charts where necessary
* Ensure all patients are afforded privacy and dignity throughout their stay
* Ensure that there is an adequate linen supply throughout the day
* Respond to health emergencies as appropriate
* Monitor ward supplies and order stock where required
About the Trust and locality
We operate from three main hospitals − Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
