We are looking for an Asset Inspector to join the team. You will undertake condition assessments & inspections of a variety of landside and marine assets, such as buildings, bridges, roadways, piers, quays, and breakwaters.
You will contribute to the safe operation of Port assets by:
1. Planning & undertaking inspections independently or with other Asset Inspectors, arranging safe means of access.
2. Preparing & reviewing risk assessments and method statements for inspections, working collaboratively with Port Stakeholders to plan and minimize disruption.
3. Preparing inspection reports, recording defects & asset conditions, and suggesting maintenance & repair recommendations.
4. Uploading documented outputs and integrating recommendations into the Port's electronic asset management system.
You will also help supervise consultants and contractors performing minor construction, maintenance, or survey works to ensure safety and compliance with specifications.
We will support your development with training and guidance on assessing asset conditions and repair methods, including innovative technology.
Skills and Qualifications
* Minimum 5 GCSEs grade 4 or above, including English and Mathematics.
* HNC in Civil Engineering, Building Surveying, or a similar construction-related discipline, or a Trade apprenticeship with NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
* Vocational training.
* Prior experience in asset condition inspections is preferred but not essential.
* Full driving license and own transport.
* Physically fit, able to work at heights, from ladders or platforms, over/on water, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions.

Salary: Up to £35k DOE
Employment is contingent upon satisfactory references covering the past 5 years, a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol testing, and verification of right to work in the UK. Background security checks are required for Dock Pass approval.
