Owens is looking to recruit an enthusiastic & conscientious HGV Trailer Technician to support our Carrington operation, working a Monday-Friday day shift pattern, to be discussed at interview.
Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Trailer Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and experience in equipment repair, focusing on trailers. This role requires a hands-on approach to diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and ensuring all trailers are in optimal condition. The successful applicant will be adept at using various tools and equipment while maintaining high customer service standards.
Responsibilities
* Diagnose and repair trailers dealing with mechanical breakdowns and damage to restore vehicles to required performance, minimizing delays.
* Provide technical knowledge, advice, and skills to team members for optimal decision-making.
* Carry out weekly inspections of vehicles.
* Travel around local sites.
* Perform preventative planned maintenance and repairs.
* Carry out other duties as directed by the Company.
* Be available to cover call outs.
* Read and interpret schematics to troubleshoot issues effectively.
* Use hand tools and power tools for repairs and maintenance.
* Weld components as necessary to ensure structural integrity.
* Assemble parts and systems according to specifications.
* Operate forklifts safely to move trailers and equipment within the workshop.
* Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols.
* Provide excellent customer service through effective communication with clients regarding their trailer needs.
Experience
* Proven experience in mechanical repair, preferably with trailers or similar equipment.
* Strong understanding of electrical systems related to trailer functionality.
* Familiarity with using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
* Experience operating forklifts is advantageous but not essential; training may be provided.
* Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Strong communication skills, demonstrating an ability to provide quality customer service.
