Behaviour Mentor - Secondary School (Maternity Cover)
Location: Hackney, East London
Start Date: November2026.
Hours: Full-time | Monday to Friday | 8:00am - 4:00pm
Contract: 6-Month Maternity Cover (with potential for extension)
Are you passionate about supporting young people and creating a positive learning environment? A vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Hackney is seeking a Behaviour Mentor to join their dedicated pastoral team on a 6-month cover, starting November 2025.
This is a full-time opportunity, ideal for someone who is calm, resilient, and eager to make a lasting impact on the lives of students facing behavioural or emotional challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one mentoring and small group interventions to students across KS3 and KS4
Support students with behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties (BESD/SEMH)
Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to implement consistent behaviour strategies
Promote a respectful, inclusive school culture and positive student conduct
Assist in managing incidents using de-escalation techniques and restorative approaches
What We're Looking For:
Experience supporting secondary-aged students, especially those with SEMH or behavioural needs
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to behaviour management
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to remain professional and solution-focused under pressure
Relevant qualifications or training in youth work, mental health, or behaviour support (desirable but not essential)
