Youth Connect South West is a young people's charity working in Bath and North East Somerset and the surrounding area. We support young people to enjoy today, prepare for tomorrow and become the people they want to be. We are seeking a Functional Skills (Maths and English) Tutor to support young people at risk of NEET or who are currently NEET. The tutor will design and deliver learning activities that build confidence, improve employability, and enable learners to achieve accredited qualifications or complete courses that support their progression into education, training, or employment. This role will work closely with the Careers Coach to ensure that academic learning links directly to employability, personal development, and successful transitions into further education, training, or employment. Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver engaging Functional Skills Maths and English sessions, tailored to individual and group needs. Provide 1:1 and small group support to help learners overcome barriers and build confidence. Create personalised learning plans and track progress towards qualifications. Support exam booking and invigilation, ensuring learners are prepared and ready to achieve. Embed employability and life skills into teaching to support progression into education, training, or work. Work collaboratively with Careers Workers and wider staff to provide joined-up transition support. Maintain accurate records and contribute to project reporting. Qualifications and Experience: GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above or equivalent. Qualifications in education, such as a Level 3 Diploma in supporting teaching and learning. OR educated to Level 3 with relevant experience of supporting young people with young people with SEND, learning difficulties, disabilities, and complex needs. Experience delivering Functional Skills Maths and/or English to young people. Safeguarding training and experience of addressing safeguarding concerns in line with agreed procedures and protocols.
