Advanced Pharmacist – Education and Training/Primary Care

This is a Fixed Term post (12 months) and it will be full-time (37 hours per week).

Key Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate locally and nationally to influence how we equip pharmacists for diverse roles through advancing practice
2. Focus on patient care and primary care workforce development to maximise use of their prescribing skills.
3. Embrace advanced practice frameworks and tools to support learning and development.
4. Supervise and mentor others, and enhance supervisory capacity across the workforce. The opportunity :

Impactful Work: Contribute to innovative solutions addressing NHS challenges such as unscheduled care capacity, primary care access, using the right health professional in the right setting, the ageing population and medicines management of chronic diseases/polypharmacy, effective use of precision medicine and pharmacogenomics and use of virtual technology to enable patients to receive healthcare at home, making a meaningful impact on patient care and access to NHS services.

Our Education and Development Team: We lead professional development from student pharmacists to consultant pharmacists, making a significant impact on population health. With newly qualified pharmacists registering as prescribers from 2025-2026, this is an exciting time to join us and address NHS challenges with innovative solutions. This post will take a leadership role in the Primary Care Pharmacy Education and Training Group, to increase confidence and capability of this group of staff with strong cross-sector linkage to the NHS GGC Pharmacy Services Workforce Development Group. Workforce Development is key to the NHS GGC PS Strategic Framework; Moving Pharmacy Forward.

The role involves working full-time, Monday to Friday, with occasional evening work and travel across Scotland. Approximately 2 days are spent in an HSCP practice cluster lead role, and 3 days in Education and Training, requiring flexibility and adaptability to manage workload.
