What can I expect?
As an Apprentice Fire & Security Systems Designer, you’ll help create safety and security system plans for buildings, such as alarms and CCTV. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and project teams, learning to design systems that are safe, compliant, and cost-efficient. This is an excellent hands-on opportunity if you’re interested in engineering and technology.
You will be working in Siemens Smart Infrastructure Buildings division, responsible for designing, manufacturing, installing, and maintaining advanced electronic systems.
This is a 3-year Apprenticeship where you will complete the Level 3 Fire, Emergency and Security Systems (FESS) Technician Apprenticeship Standard. Your training will be supported by Siemens mentors and a training partner.
Responsibilities include:
* Assisting in designing fire detection, alarm, PA/VA, smoke detection, refuge, access control, CCTV, and intruder alarm systems.
* Preparing and maintaining accurate lists of materials and equipment (Bill of Materials).
* Supporting the creation of design documents, drawings, and plans.
* Understanding and applying safety and electrical standards.
* Participating in design reviews and meetings.
* Assisting in developing Operation & Maintenance manuals.
* Following company procedures and client documentation requirements.
* Managing technical questions and requests for information from team or clients.

Minimum educational requirements:
At least 5 GCSEs grade 4 or above, including Maths and English Language.
