Job Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic team within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. This is an exciting opportunity to support and develop homecare medicines management services and prescribing support across the Health Board.
You will work closely with pharmacy and clinical teams to ensure timely access to medicines for patients, contribute to service development, and provide ward-based medicines management. The role also includes dispensing, accuracy checking, and supporting procurement processes.

Main duties of the job
* Assist in the provision and development of homecare services and prescribing support.
* Support clinical verification of homecare prescriptions across defined specialties.
* Accurately dispense and check prescriptions for inpatients, outpatients, and discharge.
* Provide ward-based medicines management and patient counselling.
* Contribute to audits, financial monitoring, and cost improvement strategies.
* Contribute to the development of a robust process to reclaim costs associated with off-contract purchases.
* Train and supervise pharmacy technicians, trainees, and support staff.

Role Requirements
Essential criteria
* Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
* BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent and NVQ Level III Pharmacy Services.
* Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician qualification.
* Medicines Management qualification (including drug history taking/medicines reconciliation).
* Proficient in Microsoft Office.
* Flexible to meet the needs of the service, adaptable, and highly motivated.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Desirable criteria
* Experience in homecare or prescribing support.
* Supervisory experience.
* Proficiency in pivot tables/CASPA and other databases.
Skills
Essential criteria
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Hospital pharmacy experience and near-patient pharmacy services experience.
