Salary: £31,266 – £36,636

About the organisation
This independent student-led charity exists to enhance the experience of everyone studying at Aston University. It provides services ranging from advice and representation to sports, societies, events and wellbeing initiatives. With a focus on innovation, inclusion and community, the organisation continually seeks new ways to improve its services and create value for students.
Key responsibilities
* Identify and develop income-generating opportunities across conferencing, events, retail, and media.
* Coordinate sponsorships, partnerships and advertising packages in collaboration with marketing and communications teams.
* Lead on commercial project delivery, managing budgets, timelines and performance tracking.
* Support implementation of the organisation’s commercial strategy and income planning.
* Conduct market research, financial analysis and feasibility studies to inform business decisions.
* Act as the main contact for external partners, advertisers and stakeholders.
* Collaborate with departments to embed commercial awareness and continuous improvement.
* Ensure compliance with governance, reporting and financial regulations.
Skills and experience
Essential:
* Experience managing or supporting commercial operations such as events, media, retail or venue hire.
* Strong communication, stakeholder and relationship-building skills.
* Ability to analyse budgets, income data and forecasts.
* Proven experience delivering projects and driving income growth.
* Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Teams and project tracking tools.
Desirable:
* Experience within a students’ union, charity or higher education environment.
* Project management qualification (Prince2, Agile or APM).
* Knowledge of sponsorship, marketing and communications in commercial settings.
* Understanding of student demographics, SU sector trends or the Birmingham business landscape.
* Familiarity with sponsorship tools and platforms.
