We are seeking an experienced Payroll Operations Manager (UK&I) to oversee procedures ensuring timely payment to over 3,600 UK&I-based employees. The manager will lead a team of three, including a Team Leader and two Payroll Administrators.
The role involves collaboration with Reward, Pensions, Corporate/Regional Finance, Business Operations, Internal Audit, third-party consultancies, and government bodies. The payroll expenses for the UK business in 2020/2021 were approximately £253 million.
You will handle various payroll-related tasks, from international taxation on UK share-based payments to advising on new benefits and policies, managing confidential mergers and acquisitions, and interpreting maternity legislation changes.
What you'll be doing…
* Lead the production and delivery of all monthly payroll activities and reporting.
* Advise key stakeholders on statutory legislation issues, PAYE, NIC, statutory benefits, and benefits in kind; serve as the main contact for business support.
* Analyze reporting requirements and deliver insights using advanced Excel skills, integrating data from multiple sources.
* Implement controls to prevent inaccuracies and ensure audit compliance.
* Ensure payroll costs are accurately reflected in accounting systems and maintain relevant procedures.
* Coordinate with auditors to provide process information and resolve audit issues.
* Utilize Oracle, OBIEE, and Microsoft Office to enhance payroll process efficiency.
* Support the Head of Payroll UK&I in large-scale projects and procedural changes.
Qualifications and Experience
* Proven leadership experience in payroll within a similar-sized organization.
* Ability to collaborate with stakeholders, persuading and negotiating effectively.
* Experience with UK statutory legislation related to PAYE, National Insurance, and statutory payments.
* Knowledge of UK&I and international payroll calculations (Appendices 5 and 6).
* Strong understanding of employment law and employer benefit policies.
Technical Skills
* Knowledge of Oracle HRMS & Payroll (preferred).
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (preferred).
