Salary: £33,699 - £36,363 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week
Role
The Waste Operational Team Leader role is part of the Waste Disposal Team in the Housing, Regeneration & Operations Directorate. The team lead our front‑line operations and support the continued improvement of our waste disposal services. The role is responsible for the day to day operational management of council waste disposal facilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, supervise and motivate operational staff
* Deliver a safe, efficient service
* Ensure waste disposal facilities operate in full compliance with environmental permits
* Act as a technical lead on site
* Oversee waste acceptance, segregation, storage and removal in line with council procedures
Qualifications / About You
* Operational experience in waste and managing a waste disposal facility
* Hold a Certificate of Technical Competence (COTC) Medium Risk Operator (HWRC)
* Have experience in Health and Safety requirements including compliance and permits
* Good communication skills
* Ability to work under pressure and make sound operational decisions
* Experience plant/machine operator

Driver Assessment Requirement
Appointment to this role is subject to successfully completing a practical, road‑based driver assessment to ensure the candidate can operate Large Goods Vehicles (LGVs) safely and competently, in line with all legal and safety standards.
