The Clerical Officer provides essential administrative and secretarial support to the Acute Dietetics team. The postholder would ensure the smooth, efficient day-to-day running of the dietetic office at the Royal Gwent Hospital, supporting the Professional Manager for Dietetics, dietitians, clinical support workers, and colleagues across acute sites.
This includes managing clinical information, coordinating administrative workflows, acting as a communication point for patients and healthcare professionals, and maintaining accurate records and office systems. Experience of NHS administrative and clinical systems would be desirable but full training would be offered if required.
There are opportunities within this role to receive training in relation to becoming a Manual Handling Trainer or Fire warden.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The role includes delivering comprehensive secretarial support for the acute dietetic team, producing letters, taking minutes, managing telephone enquiries, and processing telephone and electronic referrals. The postholder oversees stock control of office stationery and supports the general running of the dietetic office at the Royal Gwent Hospital.
Qualifications and Knowledge
* GCSE qualifications or equivalent
* Knowledge of secretarial or administrative procedures and systems
* Knowledge/Experience of clinical systems e.g. CWS, WPAS, Oracle
Experience
* Experience of working in an administrative capacity incl. MS systems, office systems and procedures
* Experience of dealing with confidential and sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy
* Experience of working in NHS
