From calibrating monitors to adjusting mechanical and chemical processes,\u202Fyouâll\u202Fmake sure everything runs smoothly.\u202FYouâll\u202Flearn to record\u202Fand review water quality results\u202F-\u202Fchecking pH, chlorine, aluminium, and phosphate\u202Flevels - and\u202Fspot anything that needs attention.\u202F \n\nSafety comes first.\u202FYouâll\u202Fbe fully kitted out with\u202FPersonal Protective Equipment (PPE)\u202Fand trained to carry out risk assessments. Supported by our in-house Skills Academy team, each apprentice has both a day-to-day line manager, and a personal assessor who supports them through their qualification and ensures their training is of the highest standard.\u202F\u202F \n\nOver\u202Fthree\u202Fyears,\u202Fyouâll\u202Freceive dedicated training to become a fully qualified \u202FWater Treatment Operator, gaining the skills and confidence to make a real impact.\u202F\u202F \n\nHow to effectively treat high volumes of water to make it safe\u202F \n\nHow to\u202Fmonitor\u202Fassets like reservoirs and drainage systems\u202F \n\nHow to collect and test water samples\u202F \n\nHow to\u202Fmonitor\u202Fand analyse readings from the meters and gauges on site and spot malfunctions\u202F \n\nHow to use the software,\u202Fapps\u202Fand technology we use to\u202Fmonitor\u202Fthe water supply\u202F \n\nHow to work in a way that keeps you and your colleagues safe and healthy.\u202F \n\nA lot of your time will be spent outdoors. But in Scotland we all know that there is no such thing as\u202Fbad weather, just inappropriate clothing. So,\u202Fweâll\u202Fmake sure\u202Fyouâre\u202Fkitted out for whatever Mother Nature throws at us. \n\nYouâll\u202Fbe part of an expert, experienced team who will support you to develop your skills and knowledge while working towards a nationally recognised qualification. This is your chance to earn as you learn, working with industry-leading teams to help deliver services that are essential to the daily lives of the people of Scotland.\u202F \n\nOnce\u202Fyouâve\u202Freached a certain point in your training,\u202Fyouâll\u202Fbe included in our Out-of-Hours\u202Frota. That means you might occasionally be called into work outside your normal hours to investigate or fix a problem.\u202FYouâll\u202Fearn some extra money each month for this, whether\u202Fyouâre\u202Fcalled in or not.\u202F What\u202F youâll need\u202F \n\nYou need to be at least 17 years old by 1 August 2026.\u202F \n\nA responsible attitude to learning and work is essential.\u202FYouâll\u202Fbe someone people can trust and rely on.\u202F \n\nIdeally,\u202Fyouâll\u202Fhave five National 4 or 5s (or similar). English, Maths and Science are particularly helpful, but they\u202Farenât\u202Fa dealbreaker.\u202F \n\nA driving licence would be useful\u202F-\u202Fespecially in some of our more remote locations\u202F-\u202Fbut we know that lessons and tests are expensive.
