The Best Connection is currently seeking a reliable and experienced HGV Class 2 (LGV Cat C) Driver for a support role on behalf of our well-established logistics client based in Blaydon-on-Tyne.
This position offers immediate day shift work to provide vital operational cover during a busy peak period.
The Role
You will be covering local collection and delivery routes within the NE postcode area, handling palletised freight connected to a major national pallet network.
* Driving Class 2 vehicles safely, handling roughly 8 to 12 multi-drop drops and collections daily.
* Operating a tail-lift and manual pallet truck to safely offload goods at various commercial and residential sites.
* Conducting daily vehicle safety checks and logging defects before leaving the yard.
* Ensuring full compliance with EU Driver Hours, Tachograph laws, and road safety regulations.
Hours & Shifts
* Dayshift Only: Start times between 06:00 am and 07:30 am.
* Monday to Friday: Consistent weekday hours with no weekend work required.
* Purely Temporary Cover: Ideal for drivers seeking immediate short-to-medium-term work without a permanent commitment.
Pay & Benefits
* Hourly Rate: £15.00 per hour (PAYE).
* Weekly Pay: Paid every Friday.
* Holiday Pay: Accrued on a pro-rata basis.

Candidate Requirements
* Valid UK HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence.
* Valid CPC and Digital Tachograph cards.
* Minimum 2 years of commercial Class 2 driving experience (essential for insurance purposes).
* Previous experience handling pallet network deliveries and utilizing tail-lifts is highly advantageous.
* Maximum of 6 penalty points (minor offences only, no DD/DR/IN codes).
