Our client is a Main Contractor based in the North West, looking predominantly at large scale Commercial Refurbishment works, centred around a number of National Frameworks. They are looking to add a Design Coordinator to the team to help push forward their ongoing success in 2024.
Role Overview: As a Design Coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing the design process of commercial refurbishment and fit-out projects from inception to completion. You will work closely with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure that designs are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to understand project requirements, objectives, and constraints.
2. Manage the design process, including reviewing drawings, specifications, and other documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
3. Liaise with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to resolve design-related issues and conflicts in a timely and efficient manner.
4. Collaborate with the project management team to develop and maintain design schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
5. Conduct regular site visits to monitor the progress of design activities and identify any potential risks or issues.
6. Assist in the preparation and review of design-related documentation, including design briefs, RFIs, change orders, and variation requests.
7. Facilitate design coordination meetings and workshops to foster collaboration and communication among project team members.
8. Keep abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to commercial refurbishments and fit-outs.
9. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality assurance procedures throughout the design process.
10. Provide support to the procurement team in the selection and evaluation of design consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Qualifications and Skills:
11. Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field.
12. Proven experience as a Design Coordinator or similar role within the construction industry, preferably with a focus on commercial refurbishments and fit-outs.
13. Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
14. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
15. Proficiency in project management software and design-related tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite).
16. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
17. A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
18. Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
